Video game prices
I was arguing with a coworker yesterday about video game prices. He seemed to believe that video games today are so much more expensive than they were 15-20 years ago. We did a quick search online and found that current prices generally vary by console and release date. Brand new games typically retailed for $40-$60. I seem to remember that cartridges for the original Nintendo would set you back $40 or $50 dollars... and that was in the late 80's! Am I crazy or do you guys remember those high prices back then too? It seems like the cost to actually manufacture a modern video game disk is probably less (considering inflation) than it was to make a cartridge back in the day. However, more time and production effort is put into modern games due to their sheer size and complexity. So, what's a better deal from the consumer standpoint: Super Mario Bros 2 for $50; or Call of Duty $60? Or, have we been getting cornholed by the video game industry for decades?
Also, does anyone know what the original Atari games retailed for?

I remember paying 30$ for games on the NES. That was in abou 1990. $30 over 16 years at 3% inflation is 48$. A 50$ game 16 years later would cost 80$. Adjusted for inflation Call of Duty is cheaper than Mario brothers 2. So you're right and your coworker is wrong.
