Leave the market alone

The free market works really well for finding the most efficient distribution of resources. So why, WHY do people try to get in the way of that? My guess is local political pressure combined with the normal human desire to see people we know do better than people we don’t. I know that dumping leads to monopolies, but there’s a lot of room between a loss leader and forcing all the competition out of business.
