Screw the New South

Cops are giving tickets for obscene political bumper stickers. It doesn’t really surprise me. Georgia is a disgusting third world country. I’ve only been there once but it was an unpleasant experience I don’t care to detail. It doesn’t surprise me that the police down there are ignorant of both the first amendment and recent rulings on the constitutionality of their stupid ignorant laws. Knowledge of that type of thing would constitute ‘book learnin’ and be entirely inappropriate with the rigors of southern police work. This counts as an example of a good use of the ACLU’s time by the way. (Hat Tip: Reason)
