Gasoline: The new gold?
All I can really say about gas prices is...what the fuck? The price of gasoline keeps climbing with no end in sight. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was five bucks a gallon by Labor Day. Mobile/Exxon reported a 36billion dollor profit last year. And this morning I heard their presedent makes $144,000 per day. How the fuck can they rationalize sky high pricing?! They're obviously not hurting. No wait, nevermind. I just figured it out. They're greedy, so they raise prices. They have us by the balls because we NEED gas. I hope none of you guys have any big trips planned this summer, because I for one am gonna sit my ass at home and buy as little of their shit as possible. Fuck big oil.
P.S. The only solution is to blow up Canada.

Since the only real solution to the 'Middle East issue' seems to be a well thought out tactical nuke deployment, and then cracking the sheet of glass that was once Saudi Arabia to look for the oil, it might make more sense to occupy... I mean liberate Venezuela, and Mexico. Think about it.
Venezuela sits on a huge oil field and has a less than stable government, and who really cares what happens to mEXico.
I mean really, who cares?
Not the mEXicans if anything can be interpreted by the masses that are storming our borders in search of a better life.
But the best part of it is that we can air drop surplus arms (in crates) on those middle eastern countries that seem to be a hot bed for civil unrest and enjoy the result. Just sit back and enjoy the Jihad.
If you really want to stick it to ‘Saudi Oil Sharks’ write you state legislator and urge them to add a 200% tax to the price of all fuels derived from imported crude. When gas hits 5$ a gallon it starts to be profitable to refine from something other than sweet crude. Or nuke Canada.
I like ND's idea.
I'm not convinced that it would be cost effective. Wouldn't the money saved on gas would have to be spent on military costs to control latin america? Plus I'd have to listen to anti-war activists complain and that's annoying.
China and India. If you want to bomb your way to lower fuel prices you need to take out china and India.
Canada has the second largest amount of oil in the world, second only to Saudi Arabia. It just needs refineries. Another article, which I can't find right now, claims that they would be willing to sell it to us for $24/barrel.
I'm not sure about that 24$ figure. The forbes article you linked to made the point that it wasn't profitable to refine oil from tar sands until the price went up.
Refineries are the real bottleneck here also. There hasn’t been a new refinery built since 1977. This is partly NIMBY and partly anti-competitive business practices by the current oil companies.
Yeah, I TOTALLY agree. But in a canoe. At $75 dollars per gallon I don't wanna use the gas engine.
It's coming to your garage this weekend so we can fix it up. Also, we're gonna have to rip off the 75 and put oar brackets on it so we can use it without spending a fortune.
