Because religious charities have long been good at defending the country

The president has decided to use faith based charities in the Global War On Terror.
Sec. 2. Purpose of Center. The purpose of the Center shall be to … eliminate …obstacles to the participation of faith-based and other community organizations in the provision of social and community services.
I see three possibilities :
This could be a great idea that will help the government work with moderate Muslim organizations to fight extremist-psycho-killer-nutjob Muslim organizations.
-OR-
It’s a stupid idea to allow the presidents religious friends (like Billy Graham) to ‘help’ the police. We’d know more if congress had passed a law on this. Because if they had then their would have been debate and news coverage and all that dull stuff. But they didn’t. Their was no discussion about this in public. The president authorized this by executive order. I don’t think charities are going to do a better job of defending our country than the government will and I don’t trust any church or other religious institution that wants to get involved in this.
-OR-
Our very religious commander in chief is using his commander in chief powers to get around the separation of church and state.
I can’t wait until we get a new president. Maybe we could elect an actual small government republican this time. Is that too much to hope for?

I agree. Let's loose this one and make an agreement never to elect anyone who's father, brother, husband was president.

Let's get everyone we know, move to the cabin, and make our own country.

South Dakota is a good place to play separatist also. Personally I’ll take modernism.

Wasn't modernism Ayn Rand's philosophy?

Objectivism is Rand's philosophy. It can be summed up as; "Selfishness is GOOD." Modernism comes from the enlightenment and is the belief in rational thought and natural explanations for phenomena. This is a gross over simplification. (Modernism is also an art movement and unrelated.)

Simon: New Zealand is a fairly liberal place. You might want to check out there gun laws before you buy your ticket.
