Briggs is getting hitched!

That's right...she finally talked me into it, so I'll be joining the ranks of you married folks! The wedding is tenatively set for Oct. 6th, but we're still in the process of looking for halls. I just wanted to let you guys know and see who's gonna be home and who's not. I have been pretty recluse lately due to my parental responsibilities, but Jack Jr. is getting older and therefore easier to take care of so hopefully I'll be able to start doing stuff again!

Thanks guys! I think I can get the tab on this one, Cohort. So far it's looking like October 4th at Bonaparts (some golf course in F-Town.) Shit's expensive! Her family is as huge as mine so we're trying to keep it down to 250 people. You guys will be getting invitations soon.

250 people!? Holy shit. Did you invite hot Courtney with largeness of the chest too?

Except you guys I left all the inviting and invitations and shit to her. So I have no idea who's coming. She's got so many friggin' cousins that she has to pick and choose. Courtney is a second cousin and they don't talk that often so I don't know if she'll make the cut!

250 isn't that many is it? She said 500 at first, but due to money we had to cut it down. How many were at your wedding Si?

I think that my little brother had like 300 people at the reception, i don't really remember though, I started the celebration a little early... Good idea for the food though, 2 pigs all done up 'pulled pork' style with rolls and all the right fixins. beats the hell out of $14/plate for chicken cordon blue and rice pilaf.

Chick and rice are like 20$/plate. Take whatever you think would be too much and add 50% for wedding prices. Wait until you see what they want for booze.

Ok, so change of plans. KT looked at Fenton Sportman's banquet hall and I guess we are doing it there now. I was skeptical but I guess they have completey re-modeled the inside. It actually looks very nice now. I also requested that any pictures, plaques and/or statues of Simons dad be removed before the reception!

Sweet! Congrats to Jack and Miss Jack!

As far as a the people to invite- we ran into a similar problem. My idea was to have a death-match elimination tournament immediately before the reception. "Two relatives enter, one relative leaves". Imagine two uncles dressed in suits and ties fighting with morning stars to the death. (Picture that scene from Anchor Man when the networks clash in the alley). That would be awesome!

Thanks! That is quite possibly the greatest idea I've ever heard. I'll run that one by the War Department when I get home. You gonna be back out here by then, Jim?

I think you should invite the ones that you know will give you the most $$$ in the wedding card. Jims Idea has way more entertainment value though, hahaah

The biggest problem with my idea is that the roughest relatives are usually the ones that stiff you in the cash and gift department. "Okay, who invited the Visigoths?"

Jack- once you get a date set in stone, I will make a concerted effort to fly up. Hollyite weddings are few and far between (especially when the Garbles and Common Matts run off to elope), so I won't miss it!

"Common Matts". haha I forgot about those things.

You could probably make a small fortune selling the video of a pre-reception relative death match.

I can almost see the wife-beaters and bud cans flying through the air.

We didn't run anywhere. We just didn't invite anyone. That's how we did the entire wedding for $6k (about one third of which was dinner, we had it done at Benihana's - best decision we've ever made). I think we had 30 people.

haha. reading my last comment again, it sounds like Matt and Garble were the two that wed.

Jim, it makes total sense. Nobody got invited to their "weddings" that just so happen to be around the same time. They both moved out of the state never to be seen again, and now, all of a sudden both of them are moving back. Hmmm, sounds kind of fishy to me. I be they've been cornholin each other this entire time figuring nobody would catch on.
