Great idea

Some russian diplomats in Iraq were killed by terrorists. Putin has responded by ordering russian special forces to go to Iraq and kill those responsible. Sounds like a good idea to me.

I'd heard the Russian labor camps can be intense- but I hadn't heard you could get your ass handed to you by some special forces!

Yeah, they could send Vlad in... or they could bombard those shitbags with a few more 500lb bunker busters (i.e. the same kind they used to smoke Al-Zarqoui)

You're both missing the point. Putin didn't have any fuss, problems with the UN or international condemnation. Russians were killed by terrorists and he announced that he was sending people in to destroy them. No one blinks. Bush says pretty much the exact same thing and look at the flack.

I didn't miss it. I just wanted to talk about bad-ass Russian SF. Not the political aspect. But now that you mention it, I think Russia doesn't catch any shit about doing things like that because they've been the "bad-guy" for so long. It's expected. When we do things like that, being the shining beacon of freedom and democracy, the world tends to look down upon that. Like we're we should know better, or something like that.

yeah, it sucks that we are held to such a higher standard than everyone else. It doesn't seem to much bother the rest of the world when insurgents burn US citizens in their streets and cut their heads off and hang the bodies from bridges. That's just a normal day in barbarian Iraq! But ooooo, if one of our SMART bombs takes out some wedding party that happens to be in the building next to a terrorist camp, then we get shit on.

The only time we got a free pass was when the world watched in horror as those fuckwads flew 2 airliners into our buildings. At that point it was free reign/ wrath of god type shit... in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, that free pass lasted only about 6 months. Then we went looking for WMD- which, has been a political nightmare ever since.
