Not so Nice Words on Mitsubishi
Here’s an analysis of how to fix Mitsubishi from The Truth about Cars.
"Mitsubishi Motors is on the ropes. US sales are in the basement. Aside from the new Eclipse and the niche-market EVO, they haven't got a winning product in sight. A line of forgettable sedans and me-too SUVs does not a viable car company make. DaimlerChrysler’s decision to pull the plug on future financial aid doesn’t bode well either. In fact, Mitsubishi is knocking on the door of bankruptcy. Desperate times call for desperate measures. It’s time for them to build a “real” pickup truck: a Mitsubishi Freightliner."
I don’t think spending a lot of money to develop a huge truck will fix poor performance in the rest of your product line. GM and Ford tried that for years and look how well it worked there.

I'd take a Galant over an Impala any day of the week. If I can remember, I'll post something hilarious tomorrow. I think you guys will get a kick out of it.
Too bad for Mitsubishi that
1. There are more than two full sized sedans on the market.
2. You're not going to buy one anyway. This is good for you because the impala is a much better car.
Take a look below. Carpoint compares the SS vs. the GTS.
(The Impala smoked the Galant in JD-Power last year. So it's a good thing that Mitsubishi put a longer warranty on it.

Good point about too many sedans. The Impala is piece of shit. I had one for almost 2 weeks while my shithole Cobalt was getting fixed. JD-Power blows anyway because it's GM bias. It's always GM this and GM that. Just hurry up and go out of business already.
>>JD-Power blows anyway because
>>it's GM bias.
I assume you meant that JD-Power is biased in favor of GM.
That's one of the dumber things that you've written. If you have anything to support it go ahead and share. Or can we assume you’re full of crap?
While you're cheering for the demise of GM (not likely by the way) have you given any thought to your job prospects in the metro Detroit area without GM, Delphi and Ford?
What does any of this have to do with the fact that Mitsubishi only has two good cars and no good trucks anyway?
Every review of every GM vehicle is always done by JD. Every time GM has something to advertise, it always starts off with "JD-Power says...". So where are the rest of the reviews? Screw the job prospects. The majority of the stuff we do is Chinese based anyway. Mitsu has no good trucks because the only one they have is based off the DAKOTA. Actually, it is the DAKOTA, but with Mitsu styling. They need to break away from Chrysler, but they can't now because they're so dependent on them.
Garbs- you've really mastered the art of editing your original comments so as to not blatantly offend. But why start pulling punches now?
Cohort- I haven't driven a Galant, so this isn't a comparison, but I drove an Impala for a year and it was the best vehicle I'd ever had. It was super-smooth ride, got great gas mileage (35 hwy!!!), and was relatively easy to change the oil and conduct other standard maintenance. As far as the look, the Impala was something I wasn't embarrassed to be seen in (which is an improvement over my previous vehicles: cavalier, and blazer (which looked like a red brick with wheels- and smelled like kerosine after Simon spilled 2 gallons in the back)).
Anyway, we all know where everyone stands on cars and the auto industry. I make a motion to move on to new topics and hilarity. Motion seconded?
I second with Jim. I say we start making hilarious comics. The auto industry is gay and just comes down to a matter of personal preference. Down with cars and up with comics. Who can we rip on?
Cohort You idiot, GM (and all of the other OEM’s) use the JD-power survey because it’s the industry standard. Anyone that does well in the survey brags about it. It’s statistically significant and unbiased. Consumer report is used widely because customers like it but it has some problem with selection bias. I’ll try to explain the difference between a review and a survey to you.
A review is when one or more people drive a car and than tell you what they think. It’s all opinion.
A scientific survey samples many people with controlled questions and reports the results of all the responses.
As for Mitsubishi breaking away from DCX; that happened with Diamler told the Japanese that they were tired of dumping cash down a hole and weren’t going to give them any more money.
Now if you want to make comics, go ahead and make some.
Surveys are all a load of bulllshit. Those can be rigged so easily to swing the results in any way you please. Surveys have so many problems: demographics, language barriers, liars and non-liars, where you live, how many people are polled. There are way too many variables to make a survey worthwhile.
I haven't looked at the site in like 24 hours...and that's all it took for it to go to somplete shit. Cars, cars, cars, JD Power, Mitzu...WHO CARES?! I vote for hilarity. Talking about this shit always make me want to put a pistol in my mouth.
Cohort,
Your problems with surveys are relevant but not insurmountable. Most of what you listed can be controlled or dealt with by increasing your sample size to a large number and making sure that you’re random with respect to any specific demographic.
Even if those factors were adding error to the results they’d add the same error to everyone’s results. The survey would still have the ability to differentiate between the different OEMs, there would just be less confidence.
Rigged results are possible and common in some areas (Politics for instance). But JD-Power is an independent company paid by the OEMs. Ford, Toyota et al wouldn’t pay if they suspected that the survey was rigged for their competition. So it’s a good bet that it’s not rigged. The other test you can do is to correlate one survey with another. I don’t know about the rest of the industry but within GM JD-Power is a good indicator of warranty costs and vice versa.
My reason for posting the link was to point out that their advice for Mitsubishi is the same thing that people say ford and GM did wrong: Concentrate on trucks at the expense of the rest of your lineup. Baiting you was just icing on the cake.
Jack,
I like cars and the auto-industry, among other things. So I post about it. Arguing with cohort this morning was fun and he seems to like it. Voting on the blog is done by posting. At the moment you’re voting for a blank page. So if you want more funny stuff get off your lazy ass and draw up some hilarity.
Yeah, I have time. I barely have time to bitch about car posts!
Nothing beats arguing, hands down. Especially if it gets violent and/or rude.

(I deleted cohort's double post)
Yeah, it's fun to fight with someone that likes to fight. Too bad jacks to busy to remember that.
Huh? I forgot what we were talking about.
