Corrective Action

Today I had a small issue with a superintendent. I won't go into details. But at this point the only thing that's been decided by his boss is that I need to read a copy of "How to Win Friends and Influence people."

I'm really surspised this is the first time we've heard this! Damn it Garb's, quit messing with your co-workers minds!

It was actually well meant criticism. He said i wasn't totally worthless or he wouldn't waste his time on me. But that this was something i really need to work on. A back handed compliment I suppose, but sill pretty depressing.

That's what sucks about working in corporate america. One tiny incident and you're basically sent to sensistivity training. I would have told both of those guys where they can stick "How to Win Friends and Influence people."

So like, what was the mistake/problem you caused. I gotta know, it can't be THAT bad.

What?! Garb's has issues when it comes to influencing people and social interaction?! I don't believe it... I can't believe it.
Everything I've ever believed in has now evaporated. My world is collapsing in around me...

Simon, it's not really sensitivity training. It's just that I can be more effective if I don't piss lots of people off.

I know from experience that it’s tough to be “pleasant” ALL the time. Especially in an industry as frustrating as automotive and machine-tool design.

Sometimes you just need a day-off…
