Stupid names outlawed in China

One of Frizz’s ex-roommates once told me about the odd names she’d encountered when she was a social worker. Chlamydia and Gonorrhea were chosen because the mother thought they sounded pretty. James and Jaime were picked for twin boys because the mother couldn’t think of anything she liked better. One woman named her daughter vahgena because she heard the doctor repeat it during the delivery. That couldn’t happen in china anymore. The freedom loving PRC has a list you can pick from.
